The past Year
It's Thanksgiving night, which means I've been home for a little over a year. Here is a quick recap of my life during this period:
I got back from Africa, stayed with family for a few days, then went back and forth between Tech (AIESEC parties) and Home. I Stayed with Cat, and eventually moved into her fathers house which is where I still live (and she's my roommate)
Went on a week long trip with Emily's family to Jackson Wyoming where I skied Jackson hole, drank allot of beer, and got to see Yellowstone in the winter!
I went back to school. It kinda sucked, I didn't manage my money very well, but took Emily out allot, and caved with my new Caving buddies Charlie, Sarah, and Alissa (Kyle was there off an on)
Went to Key West, Miami, and Napes with Emily! Met her uncle and cousins, had a great time, and drove allot.
On the Day after finals I backed up into someones brand new car, and had to pay them $1600- I should get Karma points for that, I could have walked off. Then worked at ORGT for the summer ( I didn't work in the fall, which was dumb)
Just before the end of the summer I was selected to go to Alaska with ORGT as an assistant. I flew out four days earlier, went hiking around Anchorage. Hiked with 6 GT freshmen in the shadow of Denali (another 7 summit which I've seen but not climbed!) then fished, saw bears, wake surfed, went to a winery, camped on the homer spit, did random road trip shens, and had a hell of a time.
Shorts:
-Went to school in the Fall, Became a Climbing and Caving TL
-Planned my first full caving weekend
-I am in the process of planing a Mexico trip
-Was voted President of ORGT
-Learned to save/ budget
-Planned a surprise birthday party for my girl friend (crowing glory!)
What went well:
*Caving: had actual goals rather than "caving" and learned more from it
*Alaska: a nice change of environment and new sports (+firends)
*A real job: It's nice to have money and be able to save for your next epic
What needed improvement/ how I plan to go about these.
*Savings and financial awareness
-Open a new Checking account which is not BOA (it doesn't really reward)
-Automate my finances (have my remote savings account pull money from my checking after my pay checks)
-Get one new credit card which has actual rewards
-save $1000 for any random emergencies
*Independence: having my own plan, and not relying to heavily on others (sorry Kyle)
-Buy a car (co-sign with my mother)
-Make better use of my house, and everything inside it
-Delegate tasks to people who have offered to work on projects that I'm part of
*Work on results based efforts instead of "working" for hours in front of a laptop
-Start every morning out with a written list which I will then make steps out of to complete
-Check Email twice a day instead of every 5 minuets
-Leave work/work related activities at 7. Period
*Habits: Get in a better routine for climbing and stretching (and cooking)
-Wake up an run for 20 minuets (make better use of Ipod)
-Stretch everyday
-Climb twice a week with a real climbing partner (motivation!)
-Drink more water
-eat more often, but less of it
